Walking football is like the game you love, played in a new way

Walking football is a fantastic version of football that is aimed at men over 50 and women over 40 of any ability & experience.  Whether you are rekindling the skills and experience from earlier in life or maybe you have never kicked a ball before, you are welcome to come and join us for Fun, Friendship, Fitness and Football.

Walking football is played at walking pace to promote fun and prevent injury and although tackling is allowed, it is a non contact sport.  Waking football is typically played on a 5 a side sized pitch. The rules also include no tackling from the side or behind, the ball must remain below head height and one foot must be in contact with the ground at all times.(no running or jogging)

Keeping active later in life is beneficial to us all both physically and mentally and walking football allows anyone the chance to experience the camaraderie of this great team sport safely.

Walking football is a fast growing sport in various countries and is evolving all the time.

What makes Walking Football different?

The biggest difference, as the name suggests, is there is no running. Walking football is played at walking pace, with players not allowed to run. This includes with the ball or off the ball, and includes jogging. You can ‘walk’ as fast as you want and walking as described in the rules is “one foot must be in contact with the ground at all times.”

One other big difference to association or 5-a-side football is that it’s classed as non-contact sport. Although tackling is allowed, this must be done with no contact. - The Walking Football Association.
